the CD is dead

I'll have to go through my archives to see if I already wrote a blog on this subject, but the other day at work I was preaching to my fellow employees about the new USB drive I got to put on my keychain and conveniently transport songs from my home computer to my work computer.

Shortly after, I read an article on Pitchfork how the White Stripes were going to release their new CD on USB.

Of course the day after reading said article, I came into work gloating "I'm telling you guys, this flash drive is ballin', and CD is going the way of paper... DEAD"

I'm not sure if they didn't believe me or just didn't really care what I was saying, but, I still think I'm right.

2 points... or.. 1 question and one point.

1. M.I.A.
2. What are we going to start calling bands latest releases once the CD is done??

Sosa becomes fifth player to blast 600 home runs

i was initially sucked in by the headline.

"oh cool". i thought. the first thing after that i thought of were "illegal drugs". I wonder if that's a generation gap that whether he was actually guilty or not, my FIRST inclination is to associate his name with something like "illegal drugs".

again, this is NOT my political stance on what i think he actually did. it's only suggesting that the only things i have read about him was the "illegal drugs" thing. so again, it's word association, not my political view.

and 2nd i thought "i wonder how long i have to wait to watch it?"

only to look just below the HEADLINE that i noticed a _____ video player. "oh, cool, i can just watch it here. now." instead of dealing with the news or highlights.

quality has taken a hit for quantity (as this man suggests. or should've suggested) http://geekgossip.blogspot.com/2006/04/friday-6-april-2006.html.

maybe that's just how i feel lately, as i was browsing art on artnet. it seemed like viewing art has become easy, and creating, and distributing art has also become easier.

Here's the article.

"he's best left in silence"

i just quoted myself.

i really enjoyed the interview. i thought it was an insight into his personality but his intelligent, sarcastic answers. it's nice to read sarcasm with a brain behind it, instead of "well yeah, your mom just told me the same thing" and so on and so forth.

My problem however, is that after i read the article, i keep scrolling because there's more scrollbar on the side of the monitor. in doing this however, i'm greeted with "Clearly, this man is a genius!"

no shit. it didn't need your validation, or the guy's(sorry, too gender specific)/girl's after with "I agree, huzzah!"

the articles written in the first place for a reason.
